Located on the periphery of Beltwood House, The Gatehouse is an accessible single family home. The building is conceived as the contemporary ‘brother’ to the original arts and crafts gatehouse located at the entrance of the driveway to Beltwood House. The width, height and roof pitch are intended to match that of the original gatehouse introducing a dualism in age and architectural style to the site.

The simple form meant the building suited construction from large prefabricated CLT panels that could be quickly erected, easily insulated and finally encased in its outer brick skin. Left exposed, the CLT finish creates a soft, natural interior in contrast to the hard dark black outer appearance.
